THE CHALLENGE

The University of South Carolina requested a custom Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) cloud solution to improve the university’s IT agility. USC asked for a near-production experience during disaster recovery but also to be able to be outside of a geographical natural disaster zone while keeping data in-state. They needed connectivity allowing the latency to remain in a single-digit round trip and security to include data protection and governance for when there is a potential issue of data sovereignty.

Latency

Needed single digit round-trip latency

Data Location

Wanted outside natural disaster zone and still in-state

Technical Expertise

Needed protection and governance for when there is a potential issue of data sovereignty

Cost

Required capital reduction while improving security, functionality & reliability

THE SOLUTION

The custom SDDC Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) cloud solution significantly improves the university’s IT agility. It adheres to USC’s compliance requirements while providing multi-tenancy of a public cloud infrastructure. The solution enables USC to reduce capital expenditures while improving functionality, reliability, and security, all while keeping the services in the state of South Carolina.
